The Advanced Air Cleaner that is now available in the 60 and 90 series models from Volvo uses a synthetic filter and an ionization process to capture the contaminants present in the air that is entering the air conditioning system’s intake vent in order to let you breathe the cleanest air possible. This process manages to eliminate 95% of the PM 2.5 particulates floating in the air. These particulates are a form of pollution that can damage the lungs which is found in large concentrations in cities and in areas with a lot of vehicle traffic.
A protection against viruses
Airborne viruses can make you very sick if they enter your body, which is why Volvo made the Advanced Air Cleaner system capable of neutralizing 97% of all viruses that try to enter the air conditioning system before they can be blown out of the air registers and reach the occupants of the vehicle. In addition, 95% of the viruses which are already inside the vehicle when the system is activated, those that have entered by the doors or the windows, are removed in a matter of minutes.

If you suffer from seasonal allergies or asthma, driving in the spring and summer can be an unpleasant experience due to all of the pollen that gets blown around the inside of the vehicle. To remedy this, Volvo made sure that the Advanced Air Cleaner available in most of its new models is capable of blocking 99.9% of the pollen from trees, weeds, and grass, which has earned it recognition from Allergy Standards Limited.
