The Different Charging Options on the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge
August 09 2022,
The 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge is the newest model to join the Volvo lineup and the first to be exclusively available with an electric powertrain. Here are the different ways in which you can charge its battery.
Using a DC fast charging station
The quickest way to charge your 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge is by using DC fast charging stations, which are often found next to highways or in high-traffic areas. With a charging capacity of 150 kW, the C40 Recharge only needs 37 minutes for its battery to go from 10% to 80%. This method is perfect when you are on a long trip since it allows you to take a short break from driving and then quickly go on your way with close to the maximum range.
Using a Level 2 charger
Level 2 chargers are the most common type since they are found in many public places and they can also be installed directly at your residence. Using one of these chargers at home or at work allows you to leave your 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge plugged in while you are not using it so that it always has a full charge when you get back in it. This is possible due to the 8 to 10 hours it takes to go 20% to 90% charge with this method. When using this type of charger at home, you can set a timer that makes it possible to only charge at specific times in order to benefit from potentially lower electricity rates.
Using a standard electrical outlet
If you don’t have access to any kind of electric vehicle charger, you can still charge your 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge. This is because you can use any regular 120-volt electrical outlet to charge the battery. This method is obviously slower than others, with charging times close to 45 hours to go from empty to full. This is not the ideal method to charge your vehicle daily, but it can be used to top up the battery on an extended stay away from home.
