Unveiling the XC60 Black Edition: Volvo Car Canada’s Latest Addition to 2024 Lineup
September 22 2023,
Volvo Car Canada is expanding its vehicle offerings by introducing the XC60 Black Edition as a 2024 model. This new variant will enhance the XC60 lineup, one of the company’s top-performing SUVs, known for its blend of Scandinavian design and advanced technology.
Exterior and Interior Styling
Available exclusively on the Ultimate equipment level, the XC60 Black Edition brings together a striking Onyx Black exterior with exclusive design elements. These elements include a high-gloss black Volvo iron mark logo, a Volvo word mark in the same finish, and 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels, adding a sporty and elegant touch to the SUV.
Inside the vehicle, Volvo has opted for a charcoal interior featuring a black headliner. Customers can select from two types of seat upholstery: Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or a mix of Nappa Leather, Leatherette, and Textile Sport Seats. Both choices aim to offer a dynamic cockpit-like ambiance. Additionally, the interiors are highlighted by metal mesh aluminum decor and a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display integrated with Google.
Powertrain Options
The company will offer the Black Edition with two different hybrid powertrains. The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 is powered by Volvo’s renowned plug-in hybrid powertrain, which couples a 312 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 143 hp electric motor. Equipped with an 18.8 kWh high-voltage battery, it enables up to 58 kms of all-electric range when in Pure mode.
Alternatively, the XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition features mild hybrid technology. It uses an integrated starter generator alongside a traditional internal combustion engine to improve fuel economy and minimize CO2 emissions, all without requiring the vehicle to be plugged in.
Pricing and Availability
Orders for the XC60 Black Edition will commence soon, with deliveries set to begin in early 2024. The starting MSRP for the XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition is set at $68,950, while the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition is priced at $83,950.
Volvo’s Broader 2024 Lineup
The XC60 Black Edition joins Volvo's 2024 lineup, which also features the fully electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge with new powertrain options. Both offer improved range and charging times, along with the addition of rear-wheel drive variants. The lineup is rounded out by existing models including the S60, S90, V60, V90, and XC90.
In alignment with its commitment to electrification, Volvo Car Canada continues to expand its portfolio with new models, including the recently announced EX90 and EX30, which are fully electric SUVs. These introductions align with Volvo's vision to become a fully electric car company by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
Overall, the XC60 Black Edition adds a luxurious yet sporty option to Volvo Car Canada's already diverse portfolio, offering potential buyers another compelling choice in the luxury SUV segment.
