October 13 2023,
Volvo Canada has released the full pricing details for its latest fully electric SUV, the EX30, marking the fourth electric vehicle in the automaker's growing portfolio. First presented to the world in Milan this past June, the EX30 sports an approachable starting price of $53,700 CAD, positioning it competitively against similarly priced SUVs with internal combustion engines.
Design Elements
Exemplifying Volvo’s renowned Scandinavian design ethos in a compact form, the EX30 will be available in five exterior color options: Moss Yellow, Cloud Blue, Vapour Grey, Crystal White, and Onyx Black. Inside, the cabin offers four distinct design themes—Mist, Pine, Indigo, and Breeze—which can be further customized with five ambient light themes, each drawing inspiration from Swedish landscapes.
Safety Measures
Safety has been a cornerstone for Volvo, and the EX30 is no exception. It is built to protect not just the occupants but also the surrounding environment, integrating Volvo's broad expertise in real-world safety scenarios. Additionally, the vehicle aims to have the lowest CO2 footprint in Volvo's lineup, aligning with the company’s future goals of being fully electric by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2040.
Tech and Features
Standard tech features on the EX30 include built-in Google services such as Google Maps and Google Assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay is also standard. Advanced safety technologies like Driver Alert System with Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Door Opening Alert, and Front & Rear Collision mitigation are included as well.
For those looking to elevate their driving experience, the 'Plus' and 'Ultra' package levels offer additional amenities. The 'Plus' level adds a Harman Kardon Premium Sound system, a panoramic roof, 19-inch wheels, and a dual-tone Onyx Black roof. The 'Ultra' level brings in next-gen Pilot Assist with Lane Change Assistance, a 360-degree camera with 3D view, and Park Pilot Assist.
Powertrain and Availability
Volvo is offering two electric propulsion options for varying driving needs. The Single Motor Extended Range variant offers up to 442 kilometres of fully electric range and comes in three package levels starting at $53,700, $56,900, and $59,100 respectively. The Twin Motor Performance package begins at $59,900 for the 'Plus' level and $62,100 for the 'Ultra' level.
Standard features for the Canadian market include a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, perfect for winter conditions. Canadians can expect to configure and reserve their EX30 later this fall, with deliveries beginning next Summer.
While Volvo Canada advises interested customers to reach out for more information, it's clear that the EX30 is aimed at offering a well-rounded package that balances luxury, safety, and sustainability, all at a competitive price point.
