Volvo Cars to Introduce Prime Video and YouTube for Enhanced In-Car Entertainment
September 15 2023,
In a move to enhance the in-car experience for its customers, Volvo Cars has announced the integration of Prime Video into its vehicles, making it one of the first automakers to offer the streaming service. The feature will be available for download from Google Play in all regions where Google apps and services are accessible. Additionally, YouTube is set to become a future addition to Volvo's in-car entertainment system, further diversifying the range of applications available to drivers.
Starting September 18th, Prime Video will become a pre-installed app through a phased over-the-air (OTA) update, with availability varying from market to market. Erik Severinson, Volvo's global head of new car programmes, stated that the inclusion of services like Prime Video and YouTube reinforces the company’s ongoing commitment to offering a growing list of software and applications designed to improve the lives of Volvo drivers.
A note on safety: Video streaming will only be enabled when the vehicle is in a fully stationary position, aligning with Volvo's core focus on safety.
With this update, Volvo aims to deliver on its promise of building cars that grow alongside the needs and wants of its customers, adding layers of convenience and entertainment without compromising on safety.
